The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder, and The Little Yellow Leaf by Carin Berger are some fall favorite books of mine.
I can picture each scene in The Wind in the Willows. I can feel nature all around me and Kenneth Grahame’s writing makes me want to get outside and have an adventure!
Little House in the Big Woods is one of the first books I learned to read on. Laura kept me inthralled or (enthralled, however you spell it yourself), I was hooked! I could not wait to curl up, all cozy and warm, to read at night about how different their life was from mine. How they lived off the land, no entertainment, except what they found or made, sitting at night, by candlelight, until it was time to go to bed.
A new favorite of mine to read to the grandbabies is, The Little Yellow Leaf. I understood the leaf to not want to let go. Determined to hold on to the now. Not move forward to the next scene in the quickly approaching new season.
I hope to get to the library to find some more to call fall favorites! I hope some one will share some of their own, whether from childhood, or adulthood, or both!
