As a child when I first saw Disney’s Mary Poppins, I realized that I wanted to try one of those magic carrousel rides. Inside Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, behind Cinderella’s Castle in Fantasyland exists an original 1971 opening day treasure. Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel is a 90-horse ride to provide you with a 120-second trip back into fantasy.
Entrance into Prince Charming’s Regal Carrousel
Originally construced back in 1917 by the Philadelphia Tobaggan Company, later purchased in 1967 and relocated for the new Disney theme park in Orlando, Florida.
There is one horse in the second row on the inside with a golden bow on it’s tail. This horse may be Cinderella’s own horse, though some may disagree.
In 2010 the name was changed from Cinderella’s Golden Carrousel to aid the telling of the fantasy story.
There are several hand painted scenes from Disney’s Cinderella on the inside panels.
Lines move rather quicky, even during busy periods keeping waiting times around twenty minutes at the most.
Some horses may attempt to jump off the carrousel and wind at the races, just like in Mary Poppins!
Once you depart from this magical horse ride, travel towards Cinderella’s Castle and try your fortune at pulling King Arthurs sword out of the fabled stone.
