When you think of Chinese food, if you are like me, a variety of dishes comes to mind. There are eight variations of Chinese Cuisine including Anhui, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Shandong, Hunan, Fujian, Cantonese, and Jiangsu. China is a country full of variety, rich in flavors and has a cooking heritage for centuries!
Using mostly rice, noodles, and vegetables there are countless dishes to make the mouth water. One of the most popular and recognizable offering is roasted duck. So as we passed along the China booth, this was an easy choice to make.
China is one of the more colorful lands around the World Showcase. It is a place that we lose ourselves in the buildings, history and shops appreciating every little detail.
This is the first time either of us has tasted a steamed bun. How that has alluded us over the years I do not know. The choice from the menu read Beijing Roasted Duck in a Steamed Bun with Hoisin Sauce.

The duck is roasted and pulled off the bone and placed over a mixture of crispy chow mein noodles and bean sprouts covered in a delicious Hoisin sauce. She was so eager, a bite was taken before I could get the photo taken (lol)!

We had a hard time eating all of this beautiful dish though. As I said earlier we had never had a steamed bun before, and did not really know what to expect. The bun was very mushy, which may be normal for a steamed bun, but with the incredible mixture inside it made a very weird texture. Don’t misunderstand me, all the mixture of duck, chow mein noodles and bean sprouts were gone quickly, but we had to pass on the bun. Thank goodness forks are conveniently located throughout!
We would strongly recommend stopping by the China booth and trying one of their offerings! As you would expect the tastes are great, and some are interesting…
