Take time to consider where you are today. Have you become the person you had wanted? Are you financially in the position you desire? Are you spending your time doing the things you want? Are there changes you would like to make to make your life or your family’s life better? Do you want to see you business more profitable, or reaching larger markets?
Many of us have dreams and desires, and want to see changes happen, but fail to take the steps to make them happen. Now I am not a fan of what they call “resolutions”, but am a big believer in setting goals to make yourself and your business’ successful. Success is different for everyone, but one thing is clear success starts with determining where you want to go. Find goals that move you, goals that inspire you to move beyond where you are today.
List your goals, be clear and concise listing what you want to achieve. Make it so you easily understand where you want to go by looking at the goal. What are the things you want to achieve individually, as a company, or as a family? Consider how can I make my life and my family’s life better? Goal setting can sometimes require you to get out of your normal surroundings and allow the time to have quiet clear thoughts without the regular interruptions.
Develop an action plan for your goals. Without action, your goals are merely wishes. What steps can be taken today, this week, this month to get closer to your end goal. List these action steps into your strategy plan. Your strategy plan should be measurable allowing you to clearly see on a daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly basis how much closer you are to reaching your goals. By seeing yourself getting closer with each passing step, you will gain momentum which helps you reach your goals quicker.
The next step is sometimes the most difficult, taking the action to move from where you are now, to where you want to be with your goal. Many times we have habits, activities, and practices in our daily lives that we like, are comfortable with, and are hard to change. Some of your goals are going to require you to make changes, as indicated in your action plan. In baseball it is hard to steal second base, if you are unwilling to take your foot off of first base. Take action, follow your plan.
You are on the right track now! You know what your goals are, have developed the action plan, and are doing the steps to reach your goals. Make certain you keep your goals in front of you. Tape them on your bathroom mirror. Place them in your purse or wallet. Put them on your screensaver or phone. The point is you want to keep your eyes on the prize, because life is full of distractions. We all still have responsibilities and routines each and every day that if we are not careful, will pull us completely away from our action plan.
Success is defined different for each and every person. Reaching your goals, and seeing your life develop into the way you desire can be achieved. Following these simple and effective tips will help as you put the action to your plans.
We hope that goal setting becomes not only a year-end effort, but a regular activity in your life to make the small adjustments in your personal, business, and family life to enrich and fulfill all your dreams!

As the coffee was delivered, Scott smiled across the table. Feeling the love that had grown from their many years together, she reached out her hand and touched his. It has been a long day for both of them. Stopping in at their favorite coffee house made the day seem to slow down as soon as they both arrived. She was the first to arrive, which gave her time to spend working on her latest novel. This story was closer to her heart. Taking more time than she had been able to commit as of late. With the holidays, there were just too many things pulling at her schedule. The problem was that it was always in her thoughts.
As another idea came to her, she quickly typed, adding a few more lines to her latest novel before the second cup was delivered to the table. “Olivia is a brilliant story weaver, and I firmly believe with blunt ideas thrown out to the wind, she will grab one and develop quite a few clever novels.” Jennifer stated firmly. Weaving her granddaughter into the story line made this a very special project, one in which she hoped would touch and inspire Olivia to believe in her own abilities.
“Jennifer, Olivia is eleven, and was probably daydreaming, not hearing a word you said.” he stated dryly, unaware how much the words stung. The expression on her face made him immediately aware though he said too much. “Sorry, she is going to love her part of the story Sweepea. Be patient and it will develop, you can do this!”
With this last comment, Jennifer closed her laptop, and smiled again. All of her books have been special, and have a place in her heart due to the circumstances and people who helped the writing process. “It has to touch her, I want her to feel our love through this character. That’s why I need to get inside her thoughts, to make it real!”
Smiling with pride at the passion she shared, Scott moved to her side, bent down and kissed her cheek. Touching her face softly and gently, lifting her face up to get her attention. “I love you beautiful, and I stand behind you on this huge mission you have strapped yourself with, It is going to be special, and it will reach her”
Scott slowly backed out of the room, pulling his cell phone out of his pocket. Speed dialing his grandkids was common, and she knew he was going to set up another time to spend with Olivia. Time they would be be able to bond, and grow closer, and to develop the story together. Jennifer smiled, it was special writing with Olivia, for so many reasons.

Continuing on with our wonderful story of this little cat that decided to adopt our family…
If you recall, it was early this spring when Jasmine chose us to be her adopted family. She is an outside cat, a stray we found stopping by our country home. She was small, and underfed, and looking so scraggly. What started with putting food and water outside away from the house, as she would NOT come near, turned into her becoming a warm “meow” when I arrive home from work.
Now we are into another phase of our relationship. We would love to be able to welcome Jasmine into our home but two individuals are very strongly allergic to cats. That being said, now that the colder weather has crept into the area, we are struggling with how to best take care of her through the winter months. Last week I constructed a cat house (no pun intended), which she had no interest in being a part. Where she lives during the day we do not know, there are too many acres of woods around us.
What has happened to us now that our children are grown and out of the nest, is that we find ourselves worrying about Jasmine! She stopped coming around last week after Tuesday evening, and we became very concerned. Thankfully on Friday evening when the sky was just getting dark (which is getting earlier and earlier), our beautiful girl came around. I gave her some more food and water, and sat down to appreciate her with petting and brushing. Did I really need another thing to worry about???

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”
Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.
Psalms 91:1-8
