Just wanted to share a small, amazing, and sweet experience I had this morning.
At the sink, washing my breakfast dishes, a hummingbird caught my eye. The feeders are almost empty. The baby birds have grown. The hummingbirds did their final dance.
All summer I watched an assortment of birds. They would have babies, wobbly, fly in from the trees, to the feeders. The parents would grab a seed and put it in their wide open beaks. The colors of the baby cardinals just starting to shine. Sometimes, everyone’s babies would fly to the shepherd hooks, sit on the top, and stare at me staring at them.
Today, the feeders are almost empty. Just a few visit me, and to be honest, I will miss their activity and certain companionship.
Feeling rather sad, I rinsed my plate, and turned off the water. Just before I turned to walk away, a bit of sunshine caught my eye. A hummingbird flew right up to the window. The morning sun caught his light green body, he shimmered in brilliant gold! He looked at me for a few seconds, as if to say goodbye, then he flew away.
Feeling blessed. :)Jen
